Andrew Melchior - Managing Director
Andrew brings extensive experience of working with Fortune 500 clients including IBM, Shell, Siemens, EMI and GMG. His approach delivers strategic business insight and analysis, informing investment opportunities whilst leading both business development and organisational orientation. His approach incorporates the application of new and emerging technologies to affect change and create access to new markets.
As MD of the EIC partnership he works closely with the Northwest’s Regional Development Agency, local authorities, energy suppliers, technology partners and the HEI sector to secure funding for R&D, infrastructure development and the creation of new jobs within the Northwest region. He currently sits on the Steering Committee for European Regional Development Funding at Manchester City Council, working to enhance the delivery of the UK's fourth Low Carbon Economic Area and is adviser to the Horizon Energy Cooperative.
Andrew’s recent client work includes delivery of a national scheme alleviating fuel poverty and lobbying for VAT relief to stimulate the new build sector. He is currently assisting the development of the UK's first renewable energy microgrid for social housing in the Greater Manchester City Region.
Professor Tom Markvart
Tom Markvart obtained his BSc (1st Class Hons) and PhD in Mathematical Physics from the University of Birmingham. He came to Southampton in 1977 to work as a Research Fellow in the Department of Mathematics and later Department of Engineering Materials. In 1987 on award of 'Allocation de Sejour Scientifique de Haut Niveau' by the French Government he spent four months at ONERA/CERT in Toulouse.
He was appointed Associate Professor at Instituto de Energia Solar at Universidad Politecnica de Madrid in 1991 before returning to Southampton as Head of Solar Energy Centre. In 1994, he was awarded the prestigious Royal Academy of Engineering/EPSRC Clean Technology Fellowship.
